Round 5 of the World Rally Championship has delivered a statement.
And it belongs to Sébastien Ogier and co-driver Vincent Landais.
Ogier Takes Control
After a weekend defined by precision and relentless pressure, Ogier secured his first win of the 2026 season at Rally Islas Canarias.
It was a performance built on control, experience, and composure—hallmarks of a driver who continues to define tarmac rallying.
And beyond the win, there was history:
Toyota Gazoo Racing reached an incredible milestone — 300 WRC podiums.

Final Podium: Toyota Domination
1️⃣ Sébastien Ogier
2️⃣ Elfyn Evans
3️⃣ Sami Pajari
A complete Toyota lockout.
A message to the rest of the field.
Super Sunday & Championship Impact
While Ogier took the win, Elfyn Evans delivered when it mattered most—winning Super Sunday points and making a decisive move in the championship.
With that, Evans climbs to the top of the drivers’ standings with 101 points.
Momentum is shifting.
Canarias Casualties
The rally, however, was not without heartbreak.
Oliver Solberg, who had been in the fight all weekend, saw his charge end after an accident—forcing him out of contention.
A cruel end to what had been a strong performance.
Reflecting on the victory, Ogier captured the spirit of the weekend:
“It’s been, first and foremost, very enjoyable. We had a great car to drive again and it was good fun, so well done to all the team.
It’s been extremely close the whole weekend with my team-mates, especially with Oliver.
It’s a shame we could not all finish together and bring this show to the end, but on our side, I think we did what we had to do and I am pretty happy to win a new rally on the list.”
What This Means

Evans takes control of the championship
