Friday in Rally Chile Bio Bío 2025 turned into a drama-filled showdown that no fan could have scripted. What started as a promising charge for Ott Tänak ended in heartbreak, while unexpected names rose to the occasion in one of the toughest opening days of the season.
The day began with Tänak leading after SS5, showing the grit and determination of a man on a mission. But just 5.6km into SS6, disaster struck – an engine failure forced him to retire for the day. Thankfully, the crew was okay, but it was game over for Tänak’s Friday. The big question now: can he bounce back on Saturday?

Elsewhere, Sébastien Ogier struggled to find rhythm across the Chilean gravel, while Kalle Rovanperä was in fine form until a costly mistake saw him clip a bank, losing over a minute.
More casualties followed – Rossel & Dunand bowed out due to a terminal oil leak, reminding everyone just how unforgiving Rally Chile can be.
But at the top, it was Adrien Fourmaux who stole the show. The Frenchman looked composed and sharp, ending the day as rally leader. Just behind him, reigning champion Thierry Neuville slotted into second, with Ogier managing to salvage third after a scrappy run.

What’s Next?
All eyes are now on Saturday, which promises to be the game changer. Fourmaux will be looking to shake off the notorious “Friday curse” that has caught many before him, while Neuville and the Hyundai camp will be hungry to press the advantage.
And don’t count out the big names just yet – Elfyn Evans, Ogier, and Rovanperä still have everything to fight for. With Tänak expected to restart, the battle is far from over.
