As 2024 unfolds, two young drivers—Martin Sesks and Sami Pajari—are lighting up the World Rally Championship (WRC) scene with their fierce determination and talent. These newcomers are not only racing but daring to make a mark against WRC legends. With a mix of youthful grit and seasoned precision, they’re ready to shake up the leaderboard.

Meet the Rising Stars: Martin Sesks and Sami Pajari

Hailing from Latvia, 25-year-old Martin Sesks has rallied his way to the top with grit, hard work, and a deep-rooted passion for the sport he grew up with. His father was a rally driver, and since 2018, Martin has been climbing the rally ranks. His 2023 European Rally Championship (ERC) win was a statement of his skill, showing he’s not only fast but also determined to compete with the best. His debut in WRC1 with M-Sport was nothing short of spectacular; in Poland, he raced to an impressive 5th place, then made it to 7th in Latvia despite a car issue that denied him a podium finish.

Meanwhile, Sami Pajari, a 22-year-old Finnish phenom, has already captivated the Toyota Gazoo Racing team with his talent and calm demeanor. Making his debut in Finland, Sami stunned fans by finishing 4th, later following up with strong placements in Chile and the Central European Rally. In Sami’s own words, “I’m surprised to be part of WRC1.” Team Principal Jari-Matti Latvala sees immense potential in Sami, describing him as “a great driver with a positive attitude. We need to see his potential in Rally1.”

Competing at the Top: A Test of Skill and Endurance

Driving in WRC1 is no easy feat. For Martin and Sami, it’s more than a dream; it’s a rigorous challenge. They’re racing against seasoned drivers who’ve made names for themselves through skill and experience, and every rally pushes these newcomers to the limit. The veterans respect their efforts, with Ott Tänak praising Martin’s talent, saying, “Credible job—he made us push, and everybody should be proud of him.” This level of support from established stars has fueled both young drivers’ drive to succeed.

Both Martin and Sami are determined to lock in their places for the 2025 season. They know they’re racing against the very best and are fiercely motivated to prove they belong. Their focus, discipline, and sheer passion have helped them rise, giving veteran drivers sleepless nights as they watch these young talents inch closer to the podium. There’s no babysitting here; the veteran drivers are pushing them hard, but both Martin and Sami are eager to claim their space.

Eyes on the Prize: What’s Next for Sesks and Pajari?

With one foot in the big leagues, Martin and Sami are already looking toward what’s next. For these two, the 2024 season is only the beginning. They aspire to hold their ground in Rally1, and as they learn and grow from each race, they’re showing glimpses of their potential as future champions.

In 2025, we might not just be watching them race but watching them win. As they gear up for the final stretch of the season, keep an eye on these young rally stars—they’re not just in the WRC; they’re here to make history.
