The World Rally Championship is no stranger to innovation, thrilling fans with powerful machines racing across diverse terrains. But beyond the roar of engines and grit of the competition, WRC Promoter’s “Beyond Rally” platform is championing a different kind of revolution: one that focuses on sustainability and social impact. From addressing climate change to advancing gender inclusivity, Beyond Rally is paving the way for a more sustainable and equitable future in motorsport. As the platform grows, initiatives like the Women’s Driver Development Programme are giving women a chance to make their mark, proving that rally isn’t just about speed—it’s about driving change.
Sustainability at the Core of Motorsport’s Future
Beyond Rally isn’t just a name; it’s a commitment to exploring how motorsport can positively impact the environment and society at large. The platform tackles some of the biggest challenges of our time—climate action, biodiversity, and responsible management—by fostering innovation in rallying. As the WRC shifts towards more sustainable practices, these initiatives will guide the sport into a greener future. This isn’t merely about minimizing harm; it’s about rallying for a cause bigger than the track itself.
Championing Gender Inclusivity: The Women’s Driver Development Programme
In a traditionally male-dominated sport, Beyond Rally is breaking down barriers and empowering women to pursue their rallying dreams. Out of a diverse pool of applicants from 13 countries, 15 exceptional women were selected to participate in an intense training camp at M-Sport Poland headquarters. Here, they honed their skills, built confidence, and fought for a spot in the Central European Rally. The journey wasn’t easy, and the competition was fierce, but three determined women—Lyssia Baudet from Belgium, Suvi Jyrkiäinen from Finland, and Claire Schönborn from Germany—rose to the top. They are now set to race in October, with the ultimate prize being a season in the 2025 FIA Junior World Championship.

A New Path for Women in Rally
The Women’s Driver Development Programme is about more than just securing a seat in a rally car; it’s about creating a pathway for women in motorsport. For these finalists, the opportunity is monumental, offering a stepping stone towards a professional career in rally driving. It’s a testament to Beyond Rally’s mission to redefine what is possible in the world of motorsport, and to inspire a new generation of female drivers who will carry the torch forward.
The WRC is leading a movement that transcends rallying and contributes to a better, more equitable world. As Lyssia, Suvi, and Claire prepare for the Central European Rally, they’re not just competing for themselves—they’re representing the future of a sport that is constantly evolving. For rally fans and aspiring drivers alike, Beyond Rally is a reminder that the power of motorsport lies not just in the thrill of the race, but in the positive impact it can have far beyond the track.
