Day one of Rally Greece was packed with drama as the pressure for the WRC title intensifies. Thierry Neuville, the rally leader, faced mechanical issues, dropping to three cylinders early on, giving Sébastien Ogier an opening to take the lead. Meanwhile, Elfyn Evans struggled with punctures, hampering his progress. Takamoto Katsuta had an impressive start but was involved in a minor incident at Tartan stage. Unfortunately, Adrien Fourmaux suffered a steering failure in SS4, forcing him to retire early.

Ott Tänak, determined to secure the lead, strategically dominated the stages. However, later in the day, Ogier’s car experienced technical issues, causing him to lose precious time. By the end of day one, Hyundai had claimed the top three positions, with Tänak, Dani Sordo, and Neuville securing 1-2-3 positions, while Ogier followed in fourth.
The rivalry intensified as Ogier fired a warning to Neuville, saying, “We’ve proven the championship leader isn’t that fast. He should stop crying and drive faster.” The stage is set for an intense Saturday as the battle continues.
